Job Description

The San Diego office is seeking an IP Litigation Legal Assistant to support attorneys handling complex litigation matters. You'll play a key role in case management, client communication, court filings, and day-to-day litigation support.

The ideal candidate brings 3-5 years of litigation experience, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines. Candidates with experience as a Litigation Legal Assistant, Legal Secretary, Litigation Secretary, IP Legal Assistant, or Practice Assistant are encouraged to apply.

Schedule: 37.5 hours. Hybrid (4:1) with parking covered.

Compensation: $85,000 - $105,000 annually, depending on experience.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, proofread, and coordinate correspondence, pleadings, memoranda, and other legal documents for intellectual property and business litigation matters.
  • Manage incoming case-related communications, maintain docketing records in Foundation IP, and ensure timely routing of documents and deadlines.
  • Communicate directly with clients regarding filings, case status updates, and other matter-related activities under attorney direction.
  • Maintain electronic and physical case files, support monthly billing activities, track attorney time entries, and assist with the review of records and litigation materials.

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of litigation legal assistant, litigation secretary, or legal support experience.
  • Prior law firm experience supporting litigation attorneys; intellectual property litigation experience is strongly preferred.
  • Working knowledge of state, federal, and appellate court procedures, filing requirements, and professional practice standards.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, with the ability to learn and utilize legal technology platforms, including docketing software.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and time-management skills with the ability to manage competing deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain accuracy, confidentiality, and professionalism while working in a fast-paced legal environment.
